What is Laser Hair Removal?
Gaining popularity across the nation, laser hair removal is a leading cosmetic service. The procedure's appeal lies in its ability to effectively reduce hair from both the body and face for an extended period of time. Unlike other hair removal methods, this advanced treatment tends to leave the skin feeling exceptionally smooth and looking refined with results that outlast the alternatives. At El Paso Men's & Women's Clinic, our proficient team offers quick and safe laser hair removal services. Leveraging the cutting-edge Soprano® ICE laser by Alma, we target common areas, such as the back, legs, arms, face, chest, underarms, and even sensitive zones, making sure our patients from El Paso, TX and beyond receive the best care for their hair removal needs.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
At your laser hair removal appointment, you will be asked to lie in one of our treatment rooms as the targeted areas of your skin are washed to remove oil, dirt, and lotion. During laser hair removal, a technician will stretch out the skin to create a clear path between the root of the hair follicle and the laser. The Soprano ICE laser beam will focus on and destroy the follicle, which prevents the hair from growing back. Usually, you will need to get a few sessions over a month or longer to achieve your optimal results. Your appointments will be spaced out in order to give the treated areas time to recover. It also allows time for hair follicles in the dormant phase of growth to reach the phase of active growth so the laser can be effective. The specialized Soprano ICE technology we use at El Paso Men's & Women's Clinic is able to target the hair follicle alone, which preserves the skin and other tissue in the treatment area.
What to Expect After Laser Hair Removal
Although laser hair removal is mostly gentle in nature, the treated areas of your skin may look like they have a slight sunburn from the lasers used. After your treatment, you are free to resume your daily activities, but you should avoid exercise or sun exposure for a day to let the treated skin heal. When you get home following your appointment, we recommend anti-inflammatory creams or cold packs to minimize any mild discomfort.

El Paso Men's & Women's Clinic Reviews
Amazing Doctor! Great staff! Highly recommend!!!
He is the best physician I have .He is very caring and encouraging doctor.Thank you doctor Leo.
Absolutely adore Dr. Altenberg and his entire staff. Everyone is friendly & welcoming. Dr. Altenberg is professional, yet holds nothing back. If you want a doctor to tell you the truth & how it is, this is your guy. I respect him and his staff for being honest, kind, informative, motivating and prompt with appointment times.
Dr. Altenberg is my new primary care doctor. I switched because with my old primary care doctor, I saw PA’s for 2 years. My wait in the waiting room and the examine room was short. He took his time to understand my issues and asked probing questions to better determine what next steps should be. He did not immediately prescribe unnecessary pills. Rather he is doing extensive blood work and muscosketal X-rays. He also wants to know specifically what existing conditions I have and what my parents died of which will also help him. His office staff have been very helpful on the phone and in the office. I highly recommend Dr. Altenberg and his great staff.
Very professional, goes through your labs meticulously, very nice

Am I A Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a safe procedure that is suitable for many patients. At your initial consultation, our team will discuss your concerns, needs, and goals so we can determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Ideal patients for laser hair removal are in good overall health, want to reduce facial or body hair, have light skin or dark hair, and have a desire to stop using other hair removal techniques, such as waxing, shaving, or bleaching.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does laser hair removal cost?
Getting laser hair removal will vary in cost depending on the coverage area being addressed on the body, plus the number of sessions recommended to get a smooth result. To put the cost of laser hair removal into perspective, consider the time and energy you currently spend on waxing, shaving, or other methods. By comparison, laser hair removal is generally cheaper and can ultimately save you energy and time in the long term. Your technician will create a custom plan with the number of sessions we suggest and pricing options to consider.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is an effective treatment that offers long-lasting improvements. While men and women can enjoy the benefits of the treatment for a long time, it is technically semi-permanent since some follicles may continue growing. Regardless, patients find most of their hair follicles will be dormant after their plan is complete, and if stray hairs are still growing, they are easier to manage. Additional laser hair removal treatments may be needed to address new growth and any stragglers.
Why do I need multiple laser hair removal sessions?
Hair growth happens in cycles. When some hair follicles are growing, other follicles are resting. Because each hair follicle is in various stages, several treatment sessions are typically needed to target each hair when it is in a growing phase. Scheduling your sessions over several weeks helps you get the smoothest, most effective result.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal can cause mild discomfort, but it is not considered too painful. Most patients should feel a minor sting as the laser targets and removes each follicle. Your technician may use a numbing ointment on your skin before starting your treatment. Patients who are used to getting waxed report that laser hair removal is more comfortable than undergoing a waxing session.
Which laser is best to remove hair?
With so many great lasers to choose from, El Paso Men's & Women's Clinic offers state-of-the-art hair removal technology for women and men with most hair types and colors. The laser we use delivers excellent results, and we continue to upgrade our office as newer lasers enter the marketplace. We encourage you to ask us for more information on our system during your consultation.
